ISTA 3A is a general simulation test for individually packaged products that will challenge the ability of the package and products to withstand the distribution hazards in the small package delivery system. Packages to be tested according to this standard must be lighter than 150 lbs. These test packs categorize according to shape into four categories. The four shapes are: standard, small, straight, and long. Tests and test conditions vary depending on the packaging shape.
